Introduction
Chris and Ange from ‘The Out Fit’ are pushing the boundaries of what a true expedition vehicle can be with their 50-year-old ex-military 6×6 truck. This impressive build is no simple restoration — it’s a ground-up rebuild designed for world travel. One key factor in making this rugged truck ready for extreme adventures is sound and heat control, which is why they turned to Dynamat, the industry leader in this space.
The Importance of Quality Materials
With a project of this scale, you need materials that are not only high-performance but also reliable in all conditions. Hundreds of hours have gone into this build, so cutting corners isn’t an option. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that the truck’s interior is comfortable and durable, regardless of the climates they will encounter on their adventures — from blazing hot deserts to freezing cold mountains.
Inconsistent or inferior sound-deadening materials can break down under extreme temperature changes, leading to cracking or peeling. The last thing Chris and Ange want is to pull apart their hard work to redo it because of failed materials.
The Dynamat Solution
Dynamat was the obvious choice for this build because of its proven track record. The first material they used was Dynamat Xtreme, the flagship product that goes directly onto the sheet metal panels. Given the size of the truck, these large panels can resonate and create a lot of noise. Xtreme’s job is to deaden this vibration, ensuring a quieter, more comfortable ride.
With the ability to endure temperatures ranging from -54°C to +150°C, Xtreme will withstand whatever extreme conditions Mother Nature throws its way!
Next, they applied Dynaliner, a closed-cell foam with exceptional insulation properties. When paired with Xtreme, it creates a highly effective barrier to heat and noise. Dynaliner helps keep the interior cool during the summer and retains heat in the winter, which is crucial for long expeditions in varying climates. Its water- and oil-resistant qualities make it even more suited to off-road, rugged travel.
Finally, Chris and Ange added Dynacore, a black fiber-based material made from 100% recycled materials. Like Dynaliner, Dynacore provides excellent insulation with the added benefit of absorbing any remaining noise reflections. It’s an eco-friendly option that doesn’t compromise on performance.
Ready for Any Adventure
With Dynamat’s sound and heat control products installed, Chris and Ange’s truck is nearly ready for the road. These materials will ensure that the truck’s interior remains quiet, comfortable, and insulated, no matter what environments they encounter.
